We are cleaning up our backlog tickets from last year. I exported a report of tickets in the backlog and am categorizing follow up actions (close, notify requester, notify assignee). The next step is to execute that action on all of those tickets.

While there are ticket bulk manage options in the View UI, our need is to update >350 tickets or otherwise execute an automation across all of them.

The solution that comes to mind relies on the design pattern of the bulk user update file import method. Basically, a csv with rows of ticket IDs and corresponding tags (ie. ID, TAG1) that would then be used to trigger those automations. This would allow updates to more tickets than can be done in the Views UI and would allow the admin to work from a collaborative spreadsheet (the report of tickets in the backlog) where assignees select the action and a respective tag is added. Doing so improves accuracy and completeness of updates and minimizes admin effort.

@matthew14

You can do this via API, but that is way over my head. Our developers here use Excel files and .Net programming to do it.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this feedback!

This is a great feature request and I have added it to the backlog for future consideration. This means that we will think about adding it as a priority later in our planning cycle. We are going to leave this post open for comment to allow others to provide their feedback and use cases, however please note as is stated in our Community Guidelines that we can not commit to prioritizing any one piece of feedback we receive in the community.
