Even when we have the “Object and rules - Tickets - Settings - Downloads and attachments - Allowed file types" set to “All file types” we still get an error when uploading some file types.
“Upload error - There was an error uploading *.$$$$. Try again or upload another file.” - where $$$$ is a specific file type that we would like to be able to upload for business reasons.
I have been advised by Zendesk Support that:
“Currently, there are no plans to add the .$$$$ file extension to the fixed list of supported file types. However, the team is working on a custom file type allow setting that will let customers choose which file types they want to enable in their support accounts. Unfortunately, there isn’t a timeline available for this feature yet.”
Sounds to me that Zendesk are going the right direction here.
Support have asked I create a post so that a product manager can keep me/us informed on progress against this pipeline item.

Your post helps us understand how important customizable file type support is for our customers. While our team is actively working towards introducing a feature that enables more granular control over supported file types, there isn’t a set timeline just yet. As you mentioned, this development will also take into account feedback and upvotes from customers, so continued interest from the community really does matter.
Our developers monitor these threads, and any progress or updates will be posted right here as soon as it becomes available. Please stay tuned, and thank you again for sharing your experience and input—this is essential for our improvement process.
