Integration with Tableau

Aggreed. It would be great to connect from Tableau to a Zendesk Datasource/Dataset that I can configure in zendesk/Explore-> Datasets

We need to connect Zendesk metrics with other Business Metrics that we do not want to import into Zendesk for analysing. Tableau is our tool of choice.

Hi all, this is a great suggestion and I'll make sure it's surfaced to the product team. This integration doesn't exist right now, but if you are able (perhaps using APIs) to add Tableau data to Zendesk Support custom fields, you would be able to report on that. Hi all, we use FiveTran, which has a connector to Zendesk and provides the data as a Google BigQuery database to Tableau. This is a possibility, but comes with a price tag...

Alternatively, one can export the csv from the settings area, this allows quite a lot of analysis already.

What is missing is to have the preprocessed data from Explore available via Tableau

@tsalaria To the best of my knowledge, there's no built-in way to automatically connect Zendesk with Tableau and I couldn't find any apps to do this in the Zendesk Marketplace.

It's technically possible (though out of my scope) to use the Zendesk APIs to pull information in a form Tableau can digest. If you wanted to go down that route, I'd start at https://developer.zendesk.com/

Is there a method of generating a R/O API token for this use case? I have a particular set of governance and security requirements relating to API tokens, and read only would enable this exact integration to be performed.

I sent you an email as well, but wanted to share here for any future lurkers - there are no read-only API keys - an API key will work with any user at the level of permissions of the user making the call.

Explore datasets aggregate a significant amount of data that would not be economical to reproduce. My hope is that Zendesk makes datasets available via API or integration tool (such as FiveTran) that we would be able to access programmatically.

I also agree - a Zendesk to Tableau direct link would be fabulous in helping share our metrics with our stakeholders.

Yes we would like the same connectivity.  Wanted to see if there was any progress of Zendesk to Tableau direct link.

Another vote for a way to pull metrics directly into Tableau.
