Zendesk Spark is a community rewards program created to recognize members who contribute positively, share knowledge, help others, and strengthen the community.
Spark points and rewards are a way to give back to members for the value they bring, and to encourage all of us to learn, grow, and help each other.
Spark is designed to reward meaningful contribution, not activity for activity’s sake.
Core Principles
All Spark participants are expected to:
- Act in good faith.
- Be respectful and constructive.
- Contribute authentic and useful content.
- Support a healthy and welcoming community.
- Use rewards fairly and honestly.
Expected Behavior
Members participating in Spark should:
- Share helpful, relevant, and accurate information.
- Post with the intent to support or inform others.
- Engage respectfully with other members.
- Keep discussions constructive and on-topic.
- Review their content before posting.
- Represent their own thoughts, experience, or understanding.
- Use AI tools responsibly. While it’s perfectly acceptable to use AI in drafting your posts or comments, it’s inappropriate to use AI to synthesize insights from other posts or content without adding your own insights. If you are sharing an answer from another source, cite your source clearly and publicly.
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors are not allowed and may result in points being removed, rewards being withheld, or participation in Spark being suspended:
a) Manipulating rewards
Any attempt to gain points or rewards dishonestly, including:
- Liking or reacting to content only to earn points.
- Posting for volume rather than value.
- Coordinating with others to inflate engagement.
- Using fake or duplicate accounts.
b) Low-quality or repetitive participation
Examples include:
- Short, generic replies with no meaningful contribution.
- Copy pasting the same message across multiple posts.
- Posting unrelated comments just to stay active.
- Adding comments that do not help the conversation.
c) Spam and excessive posting
Members must not:
- Flood threads with unnecessary comments.
- Post the same idea repeatedly.
- Use automated or scripted behavior to increase activity.
d) Misuse of AI
AI can be helpful, but it must not replace genuine contribution. Content should not be:
- Fully AI-generated without human review or original input.
- Used to mass-produce replies,
- Presented as personal insight when it is not.
AI may be used to help polish, organize, or improve your own ideas, but the final contribution should still reflect your own understanding and judgment.
e) Misleading or dishonest conduct
Participants must not:
- Post false or misleading information.
- Claim credit for someone else’s work.
- Misrepresent their expertise or experience.
- Attempt to deceive moderators or other community members.
f) Respect and safety
We do not accept harassment, hate speech, abusive language, threats, discrimination, or any behavior that makes the community unsafe or unwelcoming.
Examples of reward abuse
The following behaviors are examples of how rewards programs may be misused and may lead to action under this Code of Conduct:
- Creating many small comments just to earn points,
- Liking every post in a thread without actually engaging,
- Using AI to mass-generate replies,
- Copying answers from other users or public sources,
- Asking friends or teammates to upvote or react to each other’s content,
- Creating multiple accounts to claim rewards more than once,
- Posting irrelevant content to appear active,
- Repeatedly answering questions without adding anything new,
- Forming engagement rings or coordinated groups to game the system,
- Using duplicate or alternate accounts to collect bonuses,
- Relying on minimal-effort comments such as “same,” “agree,” or “thanks” to accumulate points,
- Copying and reposting the same answer across multiple threads,
- Posting provocative or off-topic content to drive engagement,
- Misrepresenting expertise or crediting yourself for another person’s work,
- Using referral/invitation bonuses dishonestly, including fake emails or self-referrals.
Moderation and Enforcement
Zendesk may review Spark participation to ensure it aligns with this Code of Conduct.
If misuse is found, Zendesk may:
- remove points,
- withhold rewards,
- reverse earned benefits,
- issue warnings,
- or suspend access to Spark.
Moderation decisions may consider:
- the quality and relevance of the contribution,
- the intent behind the participation,
- patterns of suspicious activity,
- and whether the behavior supports the community.
Spark is built on a simple idea: good people helping good people.
The best way to earn rewards is to contribute in ways that are thoughtful, genuine, respectful, and useful. When members share their knowledge honestly, the whole community benefits.
