With complex workflows, we have adopted many custom statuses now. However, the limitation can be confusing when you have many custom statuses in the same category. It's confusing for support agents and engineers to quickly use the status they should. 

What problem do you see this solving? (1-2 sentences) 

Faster time to resolution, similar answer to above. 

When was the last time you were affected by this lack of functionality, or specific tool? What happened? How often does this problem occur and how does this impact your business? (3-4 sentences)

Every day. There are certain workflows that are status dependent, and if someone clicks the wrong one, it can cause a ticket to be orphaned or solved slower. 

Are you currently using a workaround to solve this problem? (If yes, please explain) (1-2 sentences)

No

What would be your ideal solution to this problem? How would it work or function? (1-2 sentences)

Just give a color selector/hex code field for us to set whatever color we want. If Zendesk is stuck on the colors for categories being consistent, at least give us different hueues/shades of the colors to pick from, within each status category.

Yes-- I would also be curious to know if Accessibility considerations were made with the color choices and gradations, as I've also gotten reports that the white font on the yellow color (within the ticket agent view) is not legible to some users.

There should be a straightforward way for admins to edit the colors at the level of the Status Categories if enabling custom statuses, otherwise Status configuration.

Same here , i'm trying to find out how to change status colors , but lack of documentation on this feature if it exist…. 

coloring fields are essential feature in ticketing system

Hi Shawna, this feature would be extremely beneficial for my team. As others have mentioned, the ability to color-code fields would significantly improve our workflow.

 This is a great feature request and I have added it to the backlog for future consideration. This means that we will think about adding it as a priority later in our planning cycle. We have the same problem, would be great to be able to chose a custom color for a custom status, as the colors can also give you an idea of were the status is on the ticket journey.

This should most certainly be able to be customized! Zendesk please keep this on your radar. The default status' color should be able to be edited as well.

It ensures that at a quick glance the ticket queue can be reviewed instead of actually reading text.

This has been requested by our Agents and client users, please add the ability to change / control custom ticket status colors.
