Hello Team

We are Planning to Migrate Jira data from Data Center to Cloud Instance. As a part of migration we need to migrate Zendesk data present in Data Center to Cloud Site.

Please Help us providing required documents/Steps to Prepare Zendesk for Migration activity and actions need to be performed post of migration

Thanks & Regards

Srikanth Gowda

Hi Dhiren,

Thanks for your question!

The information related to the Jira-Zendesk integration can reside in different places depending on what you are referring to. If you mean the Zendesk data linked via the plugin, most of the information typically resides within the tickets themselves in Zendesk. This includes ticket content, comments, and custom fields that may be synced or referenced in Jira.

On the other hand, if you are asking about the plugin configuration or metadata, that information generally resides within the Jira Cloud environment, as part of the app settings and records.

So, the ticket-specific information is in Zendesk (tickets), while plugin-related settings and integration data live within Jira Cloud.

I hope that helps!

Hi @srikanth ,

Hope you are doing well.

Can you please throw some more light on where does the information reside in Jira Data Center (Zendesk information).

Is it residing into tickets, or are we talking about this plugin information itself to Jira Cloud?

Thanks, Dhiren

Hi,

I’ve already answered a similar question above around Jira ↔ Zendesk migrations, so I’ll keep this brief.

Before migration

  • Clean up and define what data must move (tickets, users, fields, attachments)
  • Map fields between Data Center and Cloud
  • Freeze changes during the migration window

Migration approach

Most teams use an API-based process or a tool like Help Desk Migration, which handles:

  • Tickets with full history
  • Attachments and inline images
  • Users, orgs, custom fields, tags

After migration

  • Validate data (ticket counts, samples, attachments)
  • Reconfigure integrations (including Jira Cloud)
  • Check users and permissions
