How do you pull full ticket comments + audit trail into a spreadsheet for QA/SLA review?

I’m trying to understand how other Zendesk teams handle this workflow.

For weekly or monthly QA/SLA reporting, do you ever need full ticket comments, audit events, and ticket-level metadata in a flat Google Sheet?

I know Zendesk has native export, Explore, and connector options, so I’m specifically trying to understand whether these already solve the workflow well enough.

Questions:

  1. Do you need full ticket comments or audit trail in Sheets?

  2. Is this recurring, or mostly a one-time export?

  3. What do you use today: native export, Explore, Google Sheets connector, Coefficient/Coupler, API script, or manual CSV?

  4. What still takes time or breaks?

I made a small fake-data sample to show the output format I mean:

I’d appreciate comments on your current workaround. I’m not trying to sell anything here — just checking whether this is a real recurring SupportOps problem or already solved by existing Zendesk tools.

Hey Huego,

From our experience, before evaluating potential solutions, it may be helpful to first clarify a few aspects of the requirement:

  • What is the scale of data being worked with (number of tickets, comments, audit events, etc.)?
  • Is this intended for a specific investigation or root-cause analysis, or for generic recurring QA/SLA reviews?
  • How frequently is this needed — one-time, ad hoc, weekly, or monthly?
  • What specific insights are not currently available through Explore, native exports, or existing reporting tools?

The answers to these questions will help determine whether a spreadsheet-based approach is actually needed or whether existing Zendesk capabilities already address the use case.

Below are some points from what we have been using:

  • Zendesk reporting tools generally cover most recurring QA and SLA reporting needs. For weekly and monthly reviews, we primarily use Explore dashboards and standard ticket exports.
  • We rarely need full ticket comments or complete audit trails in Google Sheets unless there is a specific investigation, escalation, or process review. Those requests are typically ad hoc rather than recurring.
  • For regular reporting, ticket-level metadata is usually sufficient. Full comments and audit events can become difficult to manage and analyze in a spreadsheet format at scale.
  • The biggest challenge would be consolidating detailed ticket history with reporting metrics in a single view. Standard exports and Explore work well for operational reporting, but deeper root-cause analysis sometimes requires additional manual effort.

So suggest you explore the existing tools in Zendesk fro regular reviews and case-to-case you may try google sheets (exported data). Good luck!
